Boardwalk Idyll is an innovative new series from Lewis Bryden, a painter best known for his fascination with light and landscape in the tradition of 19th Century plein air painting depicted in scenes from the Pioneer Valley and Connecticut River. Unlike the majority of his formal landscapes, this exhibit explores a larger format giving his candid subjects an almost life sized existence. Bryden branches out and chooses to focus on human relationships and tackles subtleties of everyday life with charm and whimsy. These are carefree moments caught in time by Bryden’s attention to mood and pastoral harmony. Read more here.

Boardwalk Idyll will be on display in our mezzanine gallery from 9 June 2008 to 31 July 2008. The opening reception will be on 13 June 2008 in conjunction with Northampton's Arts Night Out.
The artist will be giving a talk from 6 to 7pm on the night of the opening reception.
