Helen’s flight to Troy with her lover, Paris instigated the devastating Trojan War. In Homer’s mythological world, the death and destruction of the 10 year war changed forever the landscape of both humankind and the gods. Helen felt horrible guilt for her role in the war. Baskin has all but totally obscured her in her garments save a shiny but pained face protruding from the flower-like aperture.
