Virginia Lee Burton: Christopher’s Car

Christopher’s Car is an unfinished work that began in its earliest stages as Aris’ Car (dedicated to Burton’s oldest son, Aristides.)

It begins

Once there was a boy.

His name was Christoper.

Christoper wanted

a car of his own

more than anything else

in the world.

The collection consists of approximately 96 drawings in color and black and white, 70 notebook sketches and a manuscript with various corrections and revisions.  This is sold only as a complete set.  Below is a small selection. Please contact the gallery for content and pricing inquiries.
