From the Vault: Nelda Jansen

Nelda Jansen was born to Dutch parents in Washington DC in the late 1940’s. Jansen graduated from Calvin College in 1969 with a BA in Secondary Education. Although she received her degree in education, she studied art thoroughly throughout college. It wasn’t until 2007 that Jansen began her career as a painter, both taking and teaching painting workshops. Nelda Jansen’s attention to detail and drive to learn and grow shows through within her paintings. Her work often depicts natural subject matter, using mediums such as oil and watercolor to achieve a highly detailed composition.
