In 1974 Baskin moved with his family to England, leaving teaching behind and bringing him closer to his friend and collaborator the poet Ted Hughes. The proximity to Hughes and raising a new family brought about a renewed intensity to his work. The head the sculptor is holding is that of his wife, Lisa and images on the side are slices of domestic life including their family dog.
