Black and white print of art by children’s author Maurice Sendak showing US Capitol dome with images of Bill and Hillary Clinton along with their daughter Chelsea and their cat Socks. Surrounding them are a group of children including Mickey from “The Night Kitchen,” Rosie and one of the monster characters from Sendak’s popular children’s book “Where The Wild Things Are.” This Clinton Inaugural print is the only political print Sendak ever did and none were produced for sale, rather being commissioned by Sendak’s publisher HarperCollins as gifts for the inaugural party. An estimated 500-1,000 were printed, and even fewer were signed, Text reads “A Jubilant Welcome For Our New President And His Family! From The Children Of America, Maurice Sendak, And HarperCollins Publishers – January 20, 1993.”
