R.O. Blechman

R. O. Blechman is an illustrator, author, animator, director, designer, and cartoonist. He has created material for PBS, The Village Voice, Harper’s Bazaar, Punch, Esquire and many other media outlets. His infamous “squiggly line” is instantly recognizable through his dozen-plus books and such animated shorts as his famous Alka Selzer advertisement which has become a classic of TV advertising. In his sixty year career he has garnered a bevy of awards and honors including an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Cartoonists Society, induction into the Society of Illustrator’s Hall of Fame, and has had major exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Massachusetts.
